Be still my soul

baby not compatible with life

I've had my head in hymns for the past month as we've been organising a hymn service at church...

But this one's been knocking around in my mind a little more than others. A friend passed it on to me when she first read the title of this blog... pretty appropriate really.

I find the words a really good reminder to actually slow down and think. A reminder that I'm not doing this on my own. And that even when reality hits later on, I know The Rock I stand on.

Be still my soul

Verse 1

Be still, my soul, The Lord is on thy side.

Bear patiently, The cross of grief or pain.

Leave to thy God, to order and provide.

In every change, He faithful will remain.

Be still, my soul, Thy best they heavenly Friend.

Through thorny ways, Leads to a joyful end.

Verse 2

Be still, my soul, thy God doth undertake.

To guide the future as He has the past.

Thy hope, thy confidence, let nothing shake.

All now mysterious shall be bright at last.

Be still, my soul, the waves and wind still know.

His voice who ruled them while He dwelt below.

Chorus

In You I rest, In You I found my hope.

In You I trust, You never let me go.

I place my life within Your hands alone.

Be still, my soul.

Verse 3

Be still, my soul, the hour is hastening on.

When we shall be forever with the Lord.

When disappointment, grief and fear are gone.

Sorrow forgot, Love's purest joys restored.

Be still, my soul, when change and tears are past.

All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.
